I have received a complaint that some of the members of this tribe are not transgendered. I would like to ask that anyone who is not transgendered to please remove themselves from the tribe.
I do not wish to play identity police, but this tribe is intended for trans people and ONLY for trans people. There are very few outlets for trans people to be able to communicate with only other trans people. And this is the only place I know of specifically for trans people with romantic interest in other trans people. I would like for everyone to respect this.
Think of it as a list of people interested in a certain topic, if you will. By being a member of this tribe, you are indicating two things:
1. You are a transgendered person.
2. You are romantically interested in other transgendered people.
If these statements are no true for you, this is not the tribe for you.
I have revised the policies of this tribe as follows:
1) This tribe is only for trans people. This includes anyone who self-identifies as being somewhere on the transgender spectrum, regardless of transition status or sexual orientation. This includes identities that fall under the categories of: FTM, MTF, genderqueer, and anyone who identifies as something other than the gender assigned to them at birth.
-- -- 1a) Transvestites (defined as: someone with a sexual fetish for wearing clothing of the opposite sex) are not automatically transgendered, by the above definition. If you are a transvestite who identifies 100% as your birth gender, this is not the tribe for you. Transvestites who also identify as something other than their birth gender are welcome.
-- -- 1b) Same as 1a, for drag performers. If you are a transgendered person who performs drag, you are welcome. If you perform drag but identify 100% as your birth gender, this isn't the tribe for you.
2) Everyone who sends a request to join this tribe is required to give a statement to the moderator saying that they are trans. Stating a specific identity category is not necessary, only that you clearly acknowledge that you fit the definition of transgendered, as stated in Rule 1. While this information will remain private and will not be shared with anyone else, please note that this tribe is viewable by the public and being listed among the members will indicate to the public that you are a transgendered person.
3) This is NOT a sex tribe. No porn, no dirty stories. No sex talk other than what you would be comfortable saying in a real-life social/support group setting.
4) No invitations to the tribe. I set the tribe to where no one can issue invitations to the tribe, as some people have used the feature in the past to invite inappropriate people to the tribe. If you have been able to issue an invitation to this tribe recently, please let me know, as that would indicate a bug that needs to be reported to Tribe. If you wish to invite someone to the tribe, please send them the tribe's URL: transtrans.tribe.net/ and ask them to send in a join request.
5) If someone reports that a specific person is not trans, I will send a private message to the accused and attempt to resolve the situation. This may involve further discussion with the accuser. Any discussion between myself and said parties will remain private. I will not share information with one about the other without express permission. If I determine a false accusation was made knowingly, the accuser will be booted from the tribe.
Questions, complaints, and comments may be posted as a reply in this thread, or feel free to send me a private message. Again, I do not want to play identity police, but I do wish to keep this tribe as a trans-only space. I am open to suggestions, and I am willing to revise the above policies with good reason.

Re: MODERATOR NOTICE: PLEASE READ
Sat, August 18, 2007 - 10:34 PMThank you for speaking up about this. I hate how 'trannychasers' feel that they have the right to invade trans space. -

Ditto. I'm more than ok with "admirers". But there needs to be SOME place that transpeople-seeking-transpeople can go, to have their own space. I'm tired of "transgender" being like "bisexual" was in the 80's---- the kewl thing to be, the trendiest label to grab onto. And as for women who see "all the hot butches turning into ftms" (as the hype has gone in so many magazine articles & online forums), and think "oh, ok, well then, I'll just go where they're going and hang out with them there!", please. It's not like ftms are going to disappear off the face of the earth, or off the streets, or out of the restaurants and clubs, and offline where you can't find them, talk to them, or email them--- you do NOT need to run around joining "transgender only" groups & calling yourself "trans" just so you can stay in the loop, not miss out, and have a social outlet & a dating pool. And yeah, just because you have short hair and back in 2005 you went to a party with mascara sideburns drawn on, and went around laughing "I'm a GUY tonight, ha ha! Look, I even put a sock in my pants!", that doesn't make you "ftm". The invading and appropriating of transgender identity is insulting to transpeople.
